An honest look at Ryan:

I use humor as a tool for a lot of things: To entertain, to cope with negativity, to diffuse tense situations, and so on and so forth. I used to wonder if I joke around too much, then I realized that many people joke around too little so somebody has to provide some balance. That somebody is Robin Williams, but one day he will die and it will take approximately 3 – 5,000 over-time jokers to make up for the loss. I intend to do my part

I know a little bit about a lot of stuff but not a lot about anything in particular. I admire those who have the inverse trait. It seems less superficial.

I really like throwing a handful of Cheez-its in my mouth and then taking a gulp of milk and chewing everything all up. I call this meal: Cheez-its and milk.

My parents are deaf so my native language was American Sign Language, I served a deaf mission, worked as a professional interpreter, held several callings in a deaf branch and am currently called as an ASL Temple worker and as the sunbeam teacher in our ward (a calling that stemmed from an adorable little deaf girl becoming a sunbeam and needing a teacher who could communicate with her).

I love the outdoors. I love mountains and streams and deer and squirrels and pine trees and campfires and waking up to pee in the middle of the night when it’s so cold you can’t hardly fathom survival outside of your sleeping bag and the only thing that keeps you from letting loose right outside the door of your tent is that you know the bears will just re-mark the territory, raining down odiferous bear urine on your tent in the process. I love the outdoors.

I am a pretty die-hard Mormon. I am independent-minded enough to disagree with the General Authorities in policy but am principled enough to follow them despite criticisms I may have.

I love my wife.
