What happened to the dinosaurs?
Posted by david on September 23rd, 2007
“The earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord” during the Millennium (Isaiah 11:9). Does this mean all peoples of the earth will know of Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation? Or does it mean we will get to tap into the unlimited knowledge of the Lord Omniscient?
Perhaps it includes both of these concepts. Moses 1:27–41 reveals, “The omnipotent Creator, the maker of heaven and earth, had shown unto Moses everything pertaining to this planet, including the facts relating to man’s origin…” (First Presidency, “The Origin of Man,” Ensign, Feb 2002, 26).
But even if we are not be able to learn all things in the Millennium, they will certainly be revealed to those who receive celestial glory:
D&C 130:9-10
9 This earth, in its sanctified and immortal state, will be made like unto crystal and will be a Urim and Thummim to the inhabitants who dwell thereon, whereby all things pertaining to an inferior kingdom, or all kingdoms of a lower order, will be manifest to those who dwell on it; and this earth will be Christ’s.
10 Then the white stone mentioned in Revelation 2:17, will become a Urim and Thummim to each individual who receives one, whereby things pertaining to a higher order of kingdoms will be made known;
In either event, whenever that time comes that all questions may be answered, what would you ask? Here are a few of the questions I look forward to asking:
- What’s the story with the dinosaurs?
- Where exactly did all the events in the Book of Mormon take place?
- What are the identities of the three Nephites, and what have they done all these years?
- How did the Liahona and the Urim and Thummim work (besides upon faith)?
- What other planets are populated and could their suns be seen from earth?
What burning questions do you have?

Well, “why is sexual response such a difficulty for women?” is a the top of the list but I decided when I was 8 that “what happened to the dinosaurs?” would be the first question I asked God.

Most of my questions nowadays fall into two general groups:
1) what is the actual nature of reality?
2) what really happened all through history?
With question (2), I’m actually less interested in religious history (though that does interest me) than in finding out what the actual course of human history has been across the globe. I suspect there are significant differences from generally accepted historical narratives, particularly once you go earlier than 300-500 BC.
I’m not implying any bizarre alternative history — just that the inherent conservatism in history and archeology tends to dismiss any evidence that doesn’t fit the historical consensus. For example, and setting aside any Book of Mormon considerations, witness the tremendous academic resistance to any evidence (and there is a lot on many different fronts) that undermines the Baring-Strait-colonization-followed-by-Columbus narrative for the discovery, exploration and populating of North America.
Anyway, it’ll be fun to find out what really happened. ..bruce..

I have a list of questions about my own personal life…why did I feel that but then something else happened? What about that other situation that left me befuddled for a while?
The dinosaur thing will be interesting, as will the creation, fall and atonement…how did all of those things really happen?

There are all kinds of questions….
“Who’s there?” is a burning question I would love to ask God. (After the customary ‘knock-knock’ from God).
Someone elso did a post like this a little while ago, I can’t remember where, but I stated I would like to ask about spirit birth (if there is such a thing), and about the three degrees of glory (I think there may be more to the story).

“How’m I doing?”
“What can I do to help?”
“How’s my family?”

Wow, I need to rethink my questions. You’ve all listed broader and more various questions than I had considered. The questions involving truth in history and the nature of spirits/intelligences is resonating with me.

Why would you need to ask God about the dinosaurs? Just go to the Manti Creation Room. Let alone the readily available answer from science….same goes for PDOE’s question.

Is Keanu Reeves a good actor? To which He will reply “Yes.”

I’ve wondered recently in observing way too many teenage pregnancies in our town, why women’s bodies go into baby-making mode so early in life when we shouldn’t be bringing babies into the world until we are adults ourselves. Also, I’d like to ask why so many righteous couples have to face the challenge of infertility, while irresponsible teens seem to often get pregnant so easily.
