Pacifism

Posted by Yam on December 30th, 2006

I saw a sadly common thought on a recent post, and thought it’d be worth making a top-level post about it. Here’s a link to the actual comment, and here’s the text:
What a moral trainwreck.
It’s really strange to me how wimpy and mindless LDS people turn when they start talking about forgiveness and Hitler. […]

Women in the Life of Christ

Posted by Naiah Earhart on December 20th, 2006

Looking at the Life of Christ as reported in the four Gospels of the New Testament, we see that his behavior towards and teachings about women were profoundly, revolutionarily loving in a way that we, in our current state of gender equality (relatively speaking) might take for granted, to the point that we are in […]

Mortal Life Teaches of Christ’s Life

Posted by Michelle on December 19th, 2006

A few years ago, I attended a BYU Religion class taught by Todd B. Parker. He gave a lesson that has always stuck with me. It was based on 2 Nephi 11:4, which teaches us that “all things which have been given of God from the beginning of the world, unto man, are the typifying […]

The Sinless Life

Posted by Eric Nielson on December 18th, 2006

An aspect of the life of Christ that has caused me to marvel is the sinless life that he lead. That astounds me. Contemplating anyone surviving their entire lives without being guilty of sin to any degree stretches the limits of my imagination. Did he really accomplish such an impressive thing as a sinless life?

Jesus, the Miracle Worker

Posted by jettboy on December 17th, 2006

When contemplating the life and teachings of Jesus, there is no way to ignore the many miracles he performed – even if his death and resurrection are put aside. Each Sunday the Communion/Sacrament commemorates the glorious miracle of the Atonement in our faith. Perhaps because Jesus is already seen as the Savior not as much […]

Remember How Great Things the Lord Has Done

Posted by david on December 16th, 2006

The Lord has done great things for our fathers in delivering them from afflictions and bondage. This Christmas season, let’s follow the counsel of Moroni to remember the tender mercies of Jesus Christ and to ponder them (Moroni 10:3), for he can deliver us too.
In the following scripture references, note the language used to […]

The Easy Yoke

Posted by Connor on December 13th, 2006

The 11th chapter of Matthew features an extended promise from our Savior to all who will listen and obey:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find […]

BofJ Celebrates the Life of Christ

Posted by Eric Nielson on December 11th, 2006

Why not take a cruise on a tight and cozy barge this holiday season and help the Blogger of Jared celebrate the life of our savior Jesus Christ? For the next two weeks we will post on various themes relating to the life of Christ. A rough schedule for this celebration is given below:

Forgiving Tyrants

Posted by Connor on December 7th, 2006

Tonight in Institute, a fellow ward member made a comment during a lesson on forgiveness. He brought up the issue of Adolf Hitler, as an example to show how he didn’t understand if we’re supposed to forgive such men for atrocious crimes committed. The individual making this comment is quite well-versed in the […]

In the now

Posted by Naiah Earhart on December 6th, 2006

I worry so much, as a lot of us do about things I’ve done, things I regret, things I would change. I also worry about things that might happen, mistakes that I might make—potential regrets. So much of my headspace gets divvied up over the past and the future, that sometimes I forget […]
