The six word story
Posted by Ryan on June 27th, 2006
Ernest Hemingway was once prodded to compose a complete story in six words. His answer, personally felt to be his best prose ever, was
“For sale: baby shoes, never used.
Perhaps there are some other six word stories floating around in your heads. I’d like to hear them…

How about something borrowed:
“In the beginning was the Word.”
…and something postmodern:
“The word was spoken but unheard.”

Mr. Hemingway:
I’m not sure you understand the definition of plagiarism. Ryan did not possibly commit plagiarism because he cited you (Hemingway) as the source of the six-word story. Maybe you’re just not up to speed with the current meaning of the word?
But thanks for stopping by — we’re honored!

Interesting post Ryan, thank you. Off the top I have no 6 word story. Mayber someday.
What is it with our new guest list? Should we start a hall of fame for famous visitors. In the last few days we have eagles, buzzards, Adam and now Hemingway.
Maybe we don’t want to draw any more attention than I already have.

Oprah did something like this in her last magazine, she had published authors write a one paragraph novel. Or something like that. Very short.
It was quite interesting, actually. As is this post.
