Out for Finals

I will be returning to the blog on Saturday afternoon (after my last final this semester - but it doesn’t appear that anyone has been actively blogging anyway). I just wanted to post something briefly about Bushman’s biography on Joseph. I’m only half way through because I’ve been busy with school, but what I have read is great! I recommend it if you guys havn’t already read it. Also, there is a symposium over at Times and Seasons about the book and Bushman actually reacts to some reviews and questions - it’s very interesting.
In light of Ryan’s sending of the FAIR paper about polygamy, there is some interesting discussion about Bushman’s take on the issue over at T&S. It’s nothing really new, especially after reading the FAIR article, but for some reason I saw it from a different perspective.
So, get the book, read it, and then lets discuss it! If you have reservations about it, just read some of the symposium over at T&S - I guarantee you’ll be at Barns and Noble this afternoon.
I’ve wanted to pick that book up as I have been following the times and Seasons symposium along with the other book you recommended (David O. McKay and the rise of modern Mormonism) I’ll have to direct Cristina that way for some Christmas present ideas.

I’m putting up all blog entries on the book in a list at my blog. So I’m interested in your thoughts. For those without blogs we’re having a reading club at M*. But I always like it when blogs do longer more thoughtful posts.
